Cancer Care West is a not for profit organization, dedicated to supporting those whose lives have been affected by a cancer diagnosis. Our aim is to enhance patient care and well being and to provide supports to cancer patients and their families during and after their treatment. Cancer Care West also provides cancer awareness and educational programmes and undertakes research on patient care.
Cancer Care West supports cancer patients and their families from all over the West of Ireland including counties Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, North Tipperary, Roscommon and Sligo.
Cancer Care West has recently opened Inis Aoibhinn, Residence and Cancer Support Centre. Inis Aoibhinn is located on the grounds of University College Hospital Galway and provides accommodation, psychological counseling and a range of complementary therapies to patients receiving radiotherapy at UCHG.
The residence comprises 30 en suite bedrooms and has facilities for a patient’s partner or guest to share. The cancer support centre offers supports to cancer patients such as individual and family counseling programmes, relaxation therapies and stress management techniques.
The overall emphasis of the facility is on patient welcome and support and greatly enhances the aftercare service offered to cancer patients in the West of Ireland.
