What is the Galway Bay 10?
The Galway Bay 10 is a 10 kilometre walk/run, around the streets of Salthill and Galway, in aid of Cancer Care West.
Over the past 6 years the Galway Bay 10 has raised substantial funds for Cancer Care West and this year our goal is to raise €150,000 for Cancer Care West and the development of cancer support services in the west of Ireland.
When does it take place?
The Galway Bay 10 will take place on Saturday 3rd October, starting at 1pm.
Can I walk or run the Galway Bay 10?
You can walk, jog or run the Galway Bay 10 (or any combination of these!). You can decide in advance what you want to achieve or you can just see how it goes on the day.
How can I enter?
There are three ways to enter:
(1)Online at www.galwaybay10.com. Click on the online entry section, fill out the form and pay the €60 registration fee
(2)Complete an entry form (entry forms available from Cancer Care West) and return, together with your €60 registration fee (cash, cheque, laser/credit card)
(3)By phone 091 545000 – we will take your entry details and laser/credit card details over the phone
How do I raise funds for Cancer Care West?
As soon as we receive your entry, we will send you sponsorship cards. You can raise funds over the coming weeks and send them to us at Cancer Care West. Receipts are issued for all donations.
What is the €60 registration fee for?
The €60 entry fee includes:
- Race entry
- Water, first aid stations and toilets
- T-shirt/top
- Finishers Medal
- Light refreshments after the event
- Entry to the après event (details to be confirmed)
All funds raised in excess of the €60 registration fee and donated to Cancer Care West are allocated to the development of cancer support services in the West of Ireland.
What is the Galway Bay Half Marathon?
There are three events taking place on the same day this year – the Galway Bay 10K, the Galway Bay Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and the Galway Bay Marathon (26.2 miles). If you would like an additional challenge you can enter the Galway Bay half marathon or Galway Bay marathon and choose to fundraise for Cancer Care West as part of your entry.
How do I get my race pack?
Entrants can pick up their race number from Elverys Galway from 11am to 9pm on Friday 2nd October and from 8am to 10am on Saturday 3rd October.
Is there parking available?
There is street parking available in the area in public spaces on the roadway. There are a number of paying car parks close by including Jury’s on Bridge Street/Quay Street, the Eyre Square Shopping Centre on Merchant’s Road and Hynes car park at the Docks. There will be parking restrictions in place at the race start and finish line.
What facilities are available at the start and finish line?
- Storage area for belongings for registered participants (at owner’s risk)
- Water station
- Toilets
- First Aid Centre
- Official Warm up for the race
- No changing rooms are available
